Every day, men across the nation are dressing for interviews and special events, unknowingly breaking one or more of the “Unwritten Rules”, thereby lowering their chances of landing their dream job or making a bad first impression.
Whether you have been “Dressing Up” for 4 days, 4 years, or 4 decades, there is always something more to learn as style is always evolving. The Worthen Project is here to help educate and inspire as many of these men as possible.
“The Worthen Project” was born out of an idea and a passion to bring knowledge of professional attire to the everyday man. A common misconception we tend to find is that too many everyday people do not believe they can attain the same level of “Style” as Fortune 500 CEO’s, due to limited resources.
We do not believe that a limitation on resources is the problem; the lack of knowledge surrounding dress attire itself is the problem. If you know how to style a low-priced item just as well as a higher-priced item, then you can achieve the same level of comfort and style as someone with millions to spare. While the higher price points of certain products means higher quality, it does not automatically mean a lower-priced item cannot obtain the same level of style and success.
It’s not about fashion. Fashion is a series of trends that shift from one time, place, culture, and moment to the next. We are about style. Style is particular to the individual. Style is a culmination of interests, comfort, lifestyle, and, yes, even some rules and fashion to create a unique look for a unique person. As the late, great Coco Chanel famously said: “Fashion fades, but style is forever.” Our aim is not to educate men on reading current fashion trends but to educate men on how to build their baseline of style so that they can incorporate new trends (or old trends) as they see fit.
